Matthew Lau Signature Marimba & Vibraphone Hybrid Mallets

The vibraphone lines are designed with the contemporary vibes repertoire in mind. With most of the vibraphone mallets in the market being jazz mallets, they aren’t enough for the repertoire I am playing. We came up with 3 models that allow the players to change timbre and attack right away. With longer mallet shafts, that allows me to produce a much bigger sound when I need. They are available in both birch and rattan
RED ML1: Soft. Powerful, bassy, beefy, especially on the lower two octaves on the marimba. On the vibraphone it creates a natural beautiful tone with tons of fundamental. Great for general softer jazz playing as well
BLUE ML2: Medium soft to medium hard. This is the model I use the most. It covers the entire range of the marimba and vibraphone well. The vast tone color changes from these mallets are perfect for contemporary classical pieces, as well as general marimba/vibraphone playing in a group setting.
WHITE ML3: Medium hard to very hard. This is the hardest in the series. Perfect for those times you need the super hard sound in ensemble playing, orchestra/band playing, or even a specific sound in contemporary solo repertoire.
