Raven Black Hair is meant as a celebration of my Kentucky heritage and the bluegrass music of my youth. Containing variations on both the lyrics and melody of Joseph Philbrick Webster’s 1860 bluegrass classic "I’ll twine ‘mid the ringlets' " (a variant of which, 'Wildwood Flower,' was later popularized by the Carter family), this work seeks to present an abstraction of a particular musical and geographical landscape. The chosen instrumentation of voice, autoharp, and pitched metals is also meant as a bluegrass cultural reflection. Raven Black Hair invites us to dive deep beneath the surface of this regional and personal history, revealing a pure emotional core. - Jordan Munson

Loops for Vibraphone & Computer by Von Hansen - ii. Gr@w£ix (Grawlix) 2019. Loops is an exploration of repetition at varying time scales. Gr@w£ix (Grawlix) uses loops in a similar way to DJs and other live performers. Material is played, recorded and played back while a something new is recorded on top of this loop. This process continues any number of times to stack material and create the effect of multiple players from just one person. The material of Gr@w£ix is inspired by electronic dance music fused with a contemporary percussion style. The term grawlix refers to a string of typographical symbols (such as %@$&*!) used in place of an obscenity, especially in comic strips.

Life of an Artist - Episode 1 - Matthew Lau This episode features Matthew Lau, professional percussionist, an old friend and classmate from the Diploma of Music days in Hong Kong Baptist University. He plays Classical music with a whimsical twist.

He holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Contemporary Percussion Performance from Stony Brook University in New York where he studied with Eduardo Leandro, and a Master of Music degree from NYU where he studied with Jonathan Haas, Simon Boyar, and James Saporito.
